Ecodeck – A Smart Sustainable Alternative to Wood
Ecodeck combines style and durability to create a smart sustainable alternative to wood. The composite decking is rot and split resistant, splinter free and requires minimal maintenance. The boards are colour fast and require no sanding or staining. They are extremely tough and are available in a choice of colours to suit your summerhouse. The low slip resistance means that the decking can be used in different environments.
The use of a central breaker board and double borders on Ekodeck provides the best possible usage out of each 5.4m long board, resulting in next-to-no wastage. This layout also helps manage the natural expansion and contraction of the decking boards, ensuring a successful installation each and every time.
A weed suppressing membrane is supplied with the system and it can be filled with gravel to increase stability, improve drainage and add a visual effect. This can be especially useful on slope inclines where the summerhouse is situated.
Unlike traditional paving slabs, Ecodeck is lighter in weight, reducing stress on the summerhouse structure and allowing easy movement around the decking area. It is also more flexible than a concrete base, reducing the likelihood of cracking as it expands and contracts. It can be installed on a gradient up to 1 in 4. This is a great way of achieving SuDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Schemes) compliance without the cost and inconvenience of traditional drainage systems such as soak aways and drainage channels.
